Ethanol
Ethanol is manufactured from syngas via either chemical or biological processes. For chemical synthesis, ethanol can be produced using catalyst-based processes that use methanol as the feedstock. In biological processes, several technology companies have developed patented bacteria that ingest the syngas and excrete a weak solution of ethanol. The ethanol is then concentrated via common distillation to fuel-grade concentration. Below is an example of a process to produce ethanol.
